Have you any plans for Mother's Day?
I'll be working that morning, so hope to meet up with my Mum for lunch afterwards. Because the boys are small and loud we are a little restricted on where we go as a family, but we'll find somewhere suitable to celebrate and have a glass of wine!
How has your style changed since becoming a mother?
I think practicality is key these days. Of course it's lovely to spend time getting dressed up and doing hair and make-up but certainly during the week like all other Mums I'm dressing two small people too and racing out the door, toast in one hand, schoolbags in the other. I still like to look smart, but I priortise comfort and durability over the latest trends.
What pieces should every busy mom have in her wardrobe?
For me, a good blazer or light coat coming into Spring always smartens up an outfit (and hides a multitude!) Comfortable shoes for racing after the little ones, so when I'm not in work you'll find me in my favourite trainers, boots or loafers. And some light knits are always a safe option, they look fresh and smart yet are easy to throw on with jeans.
What's your go-to mom uniform?
Pretty much the above - I prefer boots with a small heel, jeans (high-waisted every time!) and a fresh shirt or sweater. I love patterns on other people but for some reason I'm not so keen on wearing them myself, so most of my clothes are pretty neutral, with the odd pop of colour. I wear lots of pink, red and blue - I believe bright colours can liven up the face and distract from tired eyes!
How can accessories take a look from school gates to work desk?
Through my job I've learned how important accessorising a look can be. Sometimes we underestimate the power of throwing on a statement necklace, or wearing a few fine chains together, perhaps a stack of bangles on the wrist. To me accessorising is an easy way to make a outfit a little more individual & eye-catching
How do you fit fashion and beauty into the mix with kids?
Quickly! I've realised how long I need to get ready in the morning and I've learned to cut corners and speed up the make-up/hair routine. I'll usually decide what to wear the night before, especially if I'm filming the next day and I allow myself that allotted time to get myself sorted. I think women in general prefer a low-maintenance routine, time is precious and in short supply in the mornings, so the idea is to get up, get out, & to be happy with how we look and feel. But for cosy evenings at home, fashion and beauty take a back seat, with comfy loungewear and a scrubbed face my preferred look.
